To ensure a balanced schedule and meaningful engagement, ASA participation limits are set by grade level. These limits help students manage their time effectively while enjoying a variety of activities. Saturday Sports is open to all and does not count toward the weekly ASA limit.
The AISL Primary After-School Activity program is designed to provide a safe, positive, and engaging environment for all students. As activities take place just once a week for a short duration, it’s essential that students demonstrate appropriate behavior from the beginning to ensure a meaningful and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Activity leaders are responsible for upholding behavior expectations within their sessions. Any behavior that goes beyond their ability to manage or requires additional support should be reported to the Athletic Director and/or the Divisional Principal.
General Rules of Conduct:
Respect Yourself: Make safe, responsible choices and always give your best effort.
Respect Others: Use kind words, listen, and support your classmates, coaches and teachers.
Respect Our Space: Take care of equipment and clean up after yourself.
Students are expected to commit fully to their chosen athletics or activities and attend all scheduled sessions. A maximum of 15% of practices, rehearsals, games, performances, or conferences may be missed due to illness, injury, or personal family reasons while remaining an active member of the activity.
Non-school-related commitments should be arranged so they do not conflict with the group’s schedule. To be eligible to participate in an after-school sports team or activity, students must attend at least half of the school day, and any partial-day absences must be excused.
A student who drops out of a sports team or an activity without the support of the activity leader / coach or is sanctioned from participation due to disciplinary reasons may not join another sports team or activity in the same season. Students may only switch their ASA selection before the start of the 3rd week. After that activities can not be changed.
Withdrawal Guidelines
Students are allowed to withdraw from an after-school activity if they find it is not the right fit for them. However, the following guidelines must be followed:
A student may only withdraw from an activity after attending it no more than twice.
Once a student has attended an activity three times or more, they will be expected to continue with it for the remainder of the term.
Swapping to a different activity is only allowed if the new activity has available space.
All requests to withdraw or swap must be submitted in writing to the program coordinator and must be approved before any change takes place.
We encourage students to choose activities thoughtfully and give new experiences a fair try before making a decision.
Note: If an ASA has low enrollment, it may be canceled. Some activities may require an assistant; stipends must be pre-approved by the coordinator.
Students are encouraged to choose their After School Activities thoughtfully. Once a student has attended an activity for up to two weeks, they may not switch to a different activity for the remainder of the season.
Activity changes are only permitted if:
The request is made within the first two weeks of the season, and
There is available space in the new activity.
All activity change requests must be submitted to the Activities & Athletics Office for approval before the switch can take place.
Outdoor activities will be adjusted or canceled in cases of severe weather
Lightning: Activities must stop immediately if lightning is seen or thunder is heard. A mandatory 30-minute delay will follow the last observed lightning/thunder.
Heat: Coaches must monitor the heat index and adjust activity intensity, duration, and water breaks accordingly. Practices may be canceled if heat conditions are deemed unsafe.
Air Quality: Refer to the AISL Crisis Response Plan for procedures related to air quality concerns.
Injury & Concussion Response
Any athlete suspected of a concussion must be removed from play immediately and evaluated by a medical professional. Return-to-play requires written medical clearance. Coaches must track injuries and communicate with parents and the Athletic Director both by phone and email regarding any health-related issues.
Emergency Contacts & On-Site Support
On-Site Medical Care
An on-site nurse and first aid services are always available during After School Activities. In case of an emergency, please contact the Activities Office immediately.
Health Office
AISL partners with International SOS and maintains a fully equipped Health Office on campus. The office is staffed by a full-time medical doctor and a full-time nurse who provide health services, including monitoring student health and well-being.
Hours of Operation:
Monday – Friday: Until 5:00 PM
Saturday: Until 12:00 Noon
If a student is treated for an illness or injury after school hours or on a Saturday, the Health Office will contact parents directly.
Pick-up location
At the end of all After School Activities, students will be picked up from the front playground. Parents or designated guardians should arrive promptly at the end of the activity to collect their child.
Late pick-up and supervision procedures
We understand that occasional delays may occur; however, timely pick-up is important for student safety and staff schedules. Students who are not collected on time will be supervised by their class teachers until the last child has been picked up.
Repeated late pick-ups may result in follow-up communication with parents and could affect a student’s continued participation in After School Activities.
