LES Library

Overview

The Lower Elementary Library (LES) hosts scholars from PreK2 to Grade 1. Ms. Tala, LES librarian, and Ms. Noor, LES assistant librarian, help young children develop a love of reading and books. The picture books in the LES are organized by themes, characters, or authors to help scholars choose books they're interested in. The LES is also a cozy place for kids and their parents who love to read before or after school.

Guided Drawing

The scholars in the LES were introduced to the Pigeon, a character created by the author Mo Willems. We used the Pigeon to model the correct behavior in the library and review library expectations. The scholars in KGB were engaged in a guided drawing activity to illustrate the pigeon!

Story Time

Story time is everyone's favorite! Ms. Sakkal engages the scholars with fun stories related to a specific topic that she wants to teach. Sometimes she reads with sound effects that add more life to the stories. Sometimes we read for fun!

Weekly Checkouts

Every week, scholars check out 2 books. They learned how to take care of books and bring them back on time. Scholars can only check out new books when they have returned the previous ones.
