🚨 STUDENT DATA PRIVACY NOTICE: To protect your personal information and keep your digital identity safe, Google Gemini is the only officially approved AI tool for AISJ students. Never type your personal details such as your full name, contact information, passwords, or private school documents into unapproved, third-party AI websites (like public versions of ChatGPT or Claude). We use Gemini because it has a strict privacy agreement with our school, meaning your data, your ideas, and your schoolwork are always kept 100% private and secure!
You can use these tools safely using your AISJ Google account! Just remember, your teacher must give you permission to use AI on an assignment, and you must always do your own thinking.
What it is: A powerful AI assistant connected to the internet, similar to the paid version of ChatGPT.
How to use it: Great for brainstorming project ideas, practicing for a debate, or explaining complex science topics in simpler terms.
Privacy: 100% Safe. It does not save your data or use your ideas to train public AI models.
Access: Use your AISJ Google account
What it is: A smart, interactive notebook. You can upload your class notes or reading assignments, and it will help you study them!
How to use it: Use it to summarize long articles, create study guides, or connect different ideas from your research.
Privacy: 100% Safe. Your notes stay private within your AISJ account.
Access: Use your AISJ Google account
What it is: An AI-assisted video creation app inside your Google Drive.
How to use it: Perfect for creating video presentations, generating storyboards, or adding AI voiceovers to your school projects.
Privacy: 100% Safe.
Access: Use your AISJ Google account
What it is: The school-managed version of Canva's design tools and Magic Studio.
Privacy: 100% Safe. Your designs are protected under our school's privacy agreement, and Canva does not use student data to train its AI models.
Access: Use your AISJ Google account
What it is: A creative tool for making graphics, web pages, and videos that includes safe AI image generation (powered by Adobe Firefly).
Privacy: 100% Safe. When logged in with your AISJ school account, the AI features have strict educational content filters, and your data is kept completely private.
🚨 Note: ChatGPT is blocked on the school network and on school devices for students.
What it is: The most well-known large language model chatbot. It can assist with brainstorming, writing, and problem-solving when you are working at home.
How to use it safely: If you choose to use ChatGPT at home, we recommend using a paid version, which offers better data privacy. If you use the free version, your data and conversations will be used to train their AI models. If a teacher allows you to use ChatGPT for a homework assignment, you can share the full text of your conversation with a link (just like sharing a Google Doc) so they can follow along and evaluate your thinking.
The Rule: You must be 13 or older to use this. Because the free version is a public tool that trains on your data, you must never upload private school documents, assignments with your name on them, or sensitive personal information. If you need a fully secure tool for schoolwork, always use Google Gemini (Green Zone) instead!
Access: Blocked at school.
What it is: An AI research assistant that acts like a knowledgeable guide. When you ask a question, it searches the internet, consolidates the responses, and provides footnote links to the original web sources.
How to use it safely: Perplexity allows you to share your conversations (called "Threads") with a link. If you use it for research, share the entire Thread link with your teacher or group for transparency and fact-checking.
The Rule: You must be 13 or older to use this. While it is a fantastic research tool, it is a public platform that learns your interests over time. Do not input personal information or private school documents into the search bar.
Access: Register using your AISJ Google account.
These tools are powerful, but they collect outside data or require you to share sensitive information (like your voice or personal reading habits). You may ONLY use these if your teacher explicitly tells you to for a specific class.
What it is: An AI tool that reads text out loud to help you listen to articles, textbooks, or your own writing.
The Rule: Because Speechify often uses a browser extension that can "read" what is on your screen, you must not install it on your own. If you need text-to-speech tools for learning support, you must ask your teacher or the Learning Support Department for the officially approved setup.
The Rule: DO NOT INSTALL THESE. AI browser extensions can "read" everything on your screen, including your private grades in Google Classroom. If you feel you need a specific extension for learning support, you must ask the Tech Department first.
What it is: An AI that helps you read novels or textbooks by answering questions and highlighting notes.
The Rule: You must be 13 or older to use this. Do not create an account unless your teacher assigns it.
What it is: An AI that has a conversation with you out loud to test your language or speaking skills.
The Rule: Because this records your actual voice, it requires special permission from your teacher and your parents. Do not use this on your own.
Because AI is changing so fast, you might discover an awesome new tool or app that isn't on this list. If you find something you think would be great for a school project, do not download it or create an account yourself! To protect your digital privacy, here is the process:
Ask Your Teacher First: Show the tool to your teacher and explain how it could help with your learning.
The Teacher Contacts Tech: If your teacher agrees it's a great tool, they will submit a formal request to the AISJ Tech Department.
Wait for Approval: Our IT team will review the tool's privacy policy to ensure it is 100% safe before adding it to our officially approved list.
