The Honors Band is comprised of the top performing 7th & 8th grade students at AMS. The Honors Band is directed by Mr. Contreras and meets every day during 3rd Period.
This Band focuses on more challenging musical styles and techniques while having fun doing so!
Every member of the band competes in the UIL Concert & Sight-Reading competition and either All Region or Solo & Ensemble competitions.
The Concert Band is the second performing band at AMS. 7th & 8th graders in this band compete in UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Contest and have the option to compete in All-Region and Solo & Ensemble. Students in the Concert Band will focus on growing skills established in beginner band and taking steps to move into the higher band / high school band next year.
Beginner band begins in 6th grade and is open to everyone! The best part is you don't need to know how to play an instrument to join band, we'll teach you everything you need to know!
Three instrument groups you can choose from. You will try them out and we will help you decide what you will be most successful with.
