Application Purpose & Guidelines
The purpose of this application packet is to outline the skill set of the Project SEARCH student candidate. This application enables the Selection Committee* to properly assess each student candidate’s interests, skills, abilities and background. A parent, student, counselor, teacher or employer may be contacted by the Selection Committee to gather additional information. Our goal is to select students who will be successful in a Project SEARCH program and reach the outcome of competitive employment.
The Selection Process includes the following guidelines:
All prospective students and their parents are expected to attend the Project SEARCH Information Night and Project SEARCH Signing Night to gain an understanding of the Project SEARCH programming, the selection process, and the expectations of the selected students.
The completed application must be submitted by Friday, January 24, 2025.
Students will participate in a working interview during the school day. A special education staff member will transport the students to the interview.
If accepted into the program, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) will be developed with the IEP committee for the 2025-2026 school year.
If accepted into the program, the student must pass a criminal background check and drug/nicotine screening.
If accepted into the program, the student will be required to provide immunization records and be willing to receive required immunizations which are not documented.
Please note:
The Selection Committee will include representatives from Arlington ISD, Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, Texas Workforce Solutions, and QUEST Employment Agency.
Order of selection will be:
Students who are fully Connected with Texas Workforce Solutions for vocational supports
Students who will benefit from participation in a variety of internships
Students who will use personal or public transportation to access work
Students who will obtain and maintain a paid job at the completion of Project SEARCH (minimum of 16 hours per week)
