We train in different departments of the hospital:
Food Services
Nursing
Central Supply
Rehabilitation Services
Laboratory
Linens
Environmental Services
Patient Access
Triage
Respiratory Services
Each day interns work toward independence on the following:
Gaining job skills in their departments
Managing Handitran rides
Budgeting
Working on a team
Making purchases
Defining and demonstrating what successful workers do
Interns not only gain job skills, but they also go into the community every semester for a week to put their skills into practice. This week is called Transition Week. Below are some examples of where the interns might go in the community during Transition Week:
Job Fairs
Grocery Stores
The Mall
The Tarrant County Food Bank
Interns and families are expected to:
Intern will complete 3 unpaid job rotations within the host business unless paid employment is obtained
Intern will have a Texas ID prior to the start of Project SEARCH, August 13, 2025
Intern will attend the program Monday – Friday and follow my sites daily schedule
Intern understands that Project SEARCH aligns with the Arlington ISD calendar

Intern will contact supervisor and instructor when absent or tardy
Interns will give department supervisor and instructor one week advance notice of planned absences
Intern will provide own transportation to Texas Health Arlington Memorial
Intern will receive travel training from Project SEARCH Staff
Intern will follow all guidelines, policies, and procedures of Texas Health Arlington Memorial, Project SEARCH, Texas Workforce Solutions, and Arlington ISD
Intern will meet all health requirements of Texas Health Arlington Memorial (annual Flu Shot, updated vaccinations, background check, drug screening)
Intern will dress according to dress code of business.

Intern and a family will attend and actively participate in Employment Planning Meetings twice per internship
Intern understand that at the completion of the Project SEARCH they will be getting full or part-time (at least 16 hours / wk) employment
Intern will activiely pursue employment
Intern along with parent(s), will arrange family schedules to accommodate Project SEARCH and paid employment
Intern agrees to allow AISD to share confidential information with program partners such as Texas Workforce Solutions, Quest Employment, Texas Health Arlington Memorial, and MHMR.
