- It is so important to communicate weekly with your staff your expectations, vision, and also feed their soul at the same time. I use Adobe Spark this year for my weekly newsletters and I am LOVING it!

- This coming school year will be my first year as the principal at Hill. While I was the Interim the last month of school, I still wanted to get to know my teachers so much better and not in a place where creativity, innovation, and love couldn't take place. So all summer I have been having one on one coffee dates with my staff, my treat, to get to know their hearts more. It has been fruitful, rewarding, and a great way for me to build those relationships and engage with them before school starts. I am also meeting our new PTA president next week too so that is SO fun! Let's do more "out of the office" type stuff this year. It shows people we are love.

I have been thinking of ways to engage my community and my school next year. Some thoughts that I want to sift through with my leadership team are:
- Pops with the Principal
- Watch Dogs
- Hotdogs Social at the Park
- Positive Phone Calls Home/Positive Behavior Referrals
- Coffee with the Principal Monthly
- Events for parents just for FUN
- Water and Cookies in the office and teacher's lounge
- Post Cards to Students during the year! Post Cards to staff at Christmas! (or to their spouses!)

It is so important to engage with your community in order to make lasting connections that can help your learners and staff of your campus and give you a better understanding of your communities' needs. This summer, I was able to partner with NiEtta Reynolds on the work she is doing around community awareness of social issues. We discussed children and their identity at different stages of life. It was interesting to find out and dialogue how social media plays such a strong part in who students and children think they should become. I strive to connect with other educators and organizations who have a heart for the whole child. In the last two years, I have been able to use my partnership with Kickboard for Schools in doing so by speaking at various conferences and interviewing with different publishers. The articles and videos below are opportunities where I was able to showcase the positive work on my last two schools I have led.
