Karen Gullic is excited to be teaching Art I, Advanced Art II and Advanced Art III this year. Ms. Gullic graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education. Ms. Gullic's is beginning her 6th year the district. In her free time, she is a sculptor and painter.
In 2017, Ms. Young retired from the Dallas Police Department after 28 years of service. She returned to the University of Texas at Arlington where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2019 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Certification in Education. Ms. Young is married and has three amazing children and three fur babies. When not working, she enjoys relaxing by her pool and painting and throwing on her pottery wheel. Ms. Young is bilingual and very proud of her Mexican heritage and very excited to share her culture, language and love for art with her students.
Jason Crump is currently in his first year as the Head Director at Gunn JH. Previously, Mr Crump served as the Director of Bands at JT Hutchinson MS in Lubbock, TX and Associate Director of Bands at SC Lee JH in Copperas Cove, TX.
During his time at JT Hutchinson MS Mr. Crump’s ensembles were consistent UIL sweepstakes recipients and as well as two time TMEA CC State Honor Band Finalists (2018, 2020)
Mr. Crump attended Texas Tech University and received a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. He studied saxophone with David Dees and Music Education with Dr. Keith Dye and Dr. Christopher Anderson.
When he isn’t teaching, Mr. Crump enjoys spending time with his family, his wife Kelly, and their two dogs and his best friend Donald Sibley.
Assistant Director of Band and Fine Arts Department Head at Gunn JH. I began my teaching career in Austin ISD as a high school band director after graduating from the University of North Texas. After 4 years of teaching in Austin, my wife and I relocated to Arlington so she could pursue her Doctorate in Chiropractic. I enjoy composing and performing music, cycling, rock climbing, and outdoor things!
Mr. Hendrickson is the Choir Director at Gunn Jr High in Arlington ISD. This is Mr. Hendrickson’s first year at Gunn and has previously served as the Associate Director of Choirs at Boles Junior High and Chisholm Trail High School. Mr. Hendrickson was born and raised in Arlington and graduated from Martin High School. First, he received a Bachelor degree in business from Baylor University. A few years post graduation, he wanted to answer his calling to be a choir director and received a Bachelors of Music from the University of Texas in Arlington. He was a two time member of the All-State Choir, selected as one of 5 young directors to attend the International Choral Conductors Master class at Baylor University, Boles PBIS Teacher of the Year, and Chisholm Trail’s “Be The Change” Award Winner. Mr. Hendrickson resides in Arlington with his wife Emily and two young boys, Peter and Benjamin.
Dee Evans is starting the 3rd year at Gunn as the Dance Teacher and starting the 9th year teaching in AISD. Mrs. Evans' favorite dance genre is tap but loves to choreograph contemporary pieces. When she's not dancing, she loves spending time with husband and their new baby, her dogs, listening to audiobooks and thrifting.
Don Sibley is the Head Director of Orchestras at Gunn Junior High in Arlington ISD. After graduating from UT Austin with a degree in Music Education and Western Michigan University with a Masters Degree in Performance, he began a career as a strings educator at Johnston Academy of Fine Arts in Houston ISD in 2004. From there he moved to Fort Worth ISD for 8 years until settling in Arlington ISD at Boles JH. He is a TMEA clinician and has served as a Middle School Coordinator for Region 5. Mr. Sibley has been a TMAA judge for UIL Concert & Sight Reading Evaluation since 2018. He lives in Fort Worth with his wife, his daughter, and their dog Coco.
Adriana Medina is a graduate of Texas Christian University with a bachelor's degree in music education. Her primary instrument is the violin and was part of the TCU Full Orchestra under the direction of German Gutierrez for four years. After graduating, she has since become the head director at both the high school and middle school in FWISD and has taught private string lessons and master classes for two years before that. This is currently her 2nd year at both Gunn Fine Arts Academy and Jones Academy.
Ms. Medina has taken multiple groups to UIL and received both excellent and superior ratings at each school. She gained tremendous experience with how to set up both beginner and upper-level students for success on all musical aspects, as well as how to effectively prepare for Fall concert, cluster concert, and contest (TMEA) during her time in FWISD.
Ms. Medina has the privilege to be alongside Mr. Sibley at Gunn Junior High as the assistant orchestra director. An Arlington native, she is extremely grateful for the opportunity to come back home and continue to inspire students with her passion and dedication to the arts. She has already taken two groups to UIL and has both received superior and excellent ratings.
During her spare time, she enjoys playing piano, writing and composing music, playing video games, watching movies, taking care of her dog, Ripley, and spending time with her partner, her friends and family.
Mrs. Carla Lindberg has been teaching music to people of all ages for more than 30 years. Her eclectic career has included teaching piano, voice, Kindermusik, elementary music, music theory, high school choir director, music director for theatre productions, church musician, band leader, and accompanist. Mrs. Lindberg graduated Cum Laude with a BA in Music Education and a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
Mrs. Lindberg continues to perform as both a pianist and vocalist. She has received numerous accolades, including accompanying at TMEA 2014 for the Walnut Grove Middle School Tenor Bass Choir and again at TMEA 2019 the HEB Elementary Honor Choir. In 2022, she served as a TCDA Convention Accompanist. She has also been a collaborative pianist for the Bass Hall All-State Choir Camps each summer since 2017 and the TMEA Region 31 Choirs annually since 2022. She enjoys singing and playing piano for her church and also sings with the Arlington Master Chorale.
When she's not busy with music, Mrs. Lindberg enjoys spending time with her husband Mark, talking about, sharing pictures, or visiting their new grandson, doing puzzles together, knitting, and kayaking!
Parker Fitzgerald has been a working actor in the DFW area for over two decades. He has appeared onstage at Casa Manana, The Dallas Children’s Theatre, Theatre Three, Theatre Arlington, and many more. He has also been on six national tours and has performed in 45 states as well as in Canada. This is his fourth year of teaching here at Gunn, where he has had the pleasure of directing award winning shows like “Peter and the Starcatcher” and musical spectacles like “The Wizard of Oz”.
Melanie Garza is so excited to join Gunn as the assistant theatre director this year! She is a Texas Tech graduate, and she has a bachelor’s degree in theatre arts. She was an actor and dancer for many years, but discovered her love and passion for directing during college. She has directed award winning plays and musicals, and loves to share her passion with students. Mrs. Garza has two beautiful children that inspire her work as an educator and director, and she strives to be an excellent teacher and advocate for her students.
