What should I know before I sign up?
Freshman level advanced and Pre-AP are more demanding than advanced classes in junior high, both in skill level and in expectation of work ethic and organization

College Board-created courses that align with freshman-level college courses

Can I earn college credit? How?
Yes! Students take standardized exams in May (multiple choice, writing). Scores of 3 or higher (on a 1-5 scale) may earn college credit (check university websites for details)
Why should I take these classes?
You'll read, write, and study in a way that will prepare you for college and career
You'll get a broad overview of the subject -- a great way to figure out if you want to pursue it in college
What should I know before I sign up?
We have over 20 AP courses, so you should choose the ones that are best for your goals & interests
We expect all students to take the AP exam. There is a small fee for each exam (we do offer financial aid)
What is it?
Collegiate courses that take an international and cross-disciplinary approach
Courses can be taken individually or students may pursue the full IB diploma

Can I earn college credit? How?
Yes! Students complete a set of 3-5 assessments (written, speaking, presenting, creating - no multiple choice) depending on the course
Assessments are sent to IB to be graded. Scores of 4 or higher (on a 1-7 scale) may earn college credit. Students who earn the full diploma may earn additional credit (see university websites for details)
Why should I take these classes?
You will grow your writing, reading, and thinking skills to a high level
Courses involve discussion and reflection, diving deeper into subjects
Varied assessments may be appealing to students who tend to dislike or not do well on standardized tests

What is it?
Dual enrollment course with both a high school course (that earns an AHS grade) and a University of Texas course (that earns a UT grade)
Who teaches it?
AHS faculty teach the high school course and calculate the AHS grade
UT professors teach the UT online course and calculate the UT grade
AHS teachers support students as they work through the UT course
Can I earn college credit? How?
Yes! Students will earn a UT grade. They can accept the grade and get college credit, or if they don't like the grade they can decline the credit
Why should I take these classes?
You will get a true college experience and grade without any risk, because you can simply deny the credit at the end of the course
The way the courses are taught is collaborative and collegiate, giving you the chance to experience that while you're still in an environment with a lot of support
What should I know before I sign up?
You do not need to pass the TSIA or pay any fees for the course
These courses are collaborative and explore topics with the teacher as a support
What is it?
Tarrant County College courses offered on our AHS campus
Who teaches it?
TCC professors
Can I earn college credit? How?
Yes! Since this is a college course, your grade will be on your TCC transcript and can be transferred to another university (accepted widely in Texas and adjoining states, but check university websites for details)
Why should I take these classes?
This is the college experience without typical high school supports, so it is a great chance to test your organization and communication skills
These are college-level classes but tend to be somewhat less rigorous than AP, IB, & OnRamps courses (though not always, as it depends on the professor)
What should I know before I sign up?
TCC professors follow the TCC calendar and rules. They are not required to excuse school-related absences, provide accommodations, or grade in a certain way.
You have to pass the TSIA to take TCC dual credit courses, and you have to register with TCC. Be sure to follow all of the deadlines your counselor will provide.
