Title of Artwork: 20000 Leagues Under the Sea Dan Version

Medium: I used my computer and the app Microsoft paint to draw this.

Artist Statement: This is my version of the book “20000 Leagues Under the Sea” written by Jules Verne. I drew the way I thought it would’ve looked when I read the book. For example, I thought under the sea would look like the way I drew with the submarine “Nautilus.

Artist Statement: The theme of my artwork was to choose the book I like and make a new book cover for the book. I made a new book cover design for the book called “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens. Like the story of this book, I made two different moods of Ebenezer Scrooge(main character)’s Christmas days because he changed his thoughts and feelings about Christmas because of his one experience. To express this story, I divided the design in half and created a contrasting Christmas feeling. On one side, I expressed the gray color, and on the other side, I used a variety of colorful colors.

In addition, I put some quotes from Snow white to fill the blank space of the book cover.

Title of Artwork: Mountain Sunset

Medium: I used adobe photoshop to make this. I also used a drawing tablet to make it easier to draw this.

Artist Statement: After spending hours on drawing all of the key parts of this sketch, I realized that making everything more detailed wouldn’t necessarily make it look better, and decided to try to use colors to express feelings for the art instead. By using gradients, I was able to create many effects, such as the fade in the mountains, that wouldn’t have been possible without the gradients. I feel like my goal with this artwork was to tell people that sometimes simplicity is better than having too many details.

Medium: I used technology to animate the work and colored pencils in order to draw and color the props.

Artist Statement: I had some trouble with the pacing of the video since for some of the parts I spoke a lot more and for the other parts I spoke less. My success is that I have been able to draw all the pictures and that I have been able to edit the video. I was excited that I was able to finally learn how to do stop motion because it was something that I was always interested in and I was happy to finally do it. Overall I am happy with my final project as I think it turned out great.

Title of Artwork: The title of this artwork is Blue Sky.

Medium: HB Pencil and Acrylic Paint

Artist Statement: I chose to draw a sky landscape photo that I have taken and create it into a monochrome artwork because I noticed that I take a lot of sky landscape photos in my phone which I thought would be great to use. Hence, since I only could use one color which was phthalo blue, I divided the paper into different pieces and labeled a number from 1 - 5 in order to color it with different shades. Therefore, I have learned how to understand how lights and colors within a composition can produce shapes.
