Mount Pleasant Elementary

At Mount Pleasant Elementary we have co-created art about, with, and from seeds. Through this journey, students have explored the life of seeds and reflect on their importance through hands-on art-making, observation, mapping and dreaming.

Seed saving enables communities to return to their roots and reconnect with Mother Earth. Seeds are not just objects — they are living beings. Many cultures understand seeds as part of our extended family, ancestors that hold both memory and potential. We have a responsibility to care for them and to preserve them for future generations.

Students will explore the concept of seed banks and sanctuaries — vital spaces that protect the biodiversity of food, plants, and trees. Together, we will explore how to protect seeds for the future.
