Cultural concepts of basketry start with the ideal of where to gather materials, how to choose the correct materials and how to preserve the environment so that it continues to grow. This is important as our cultural landscape (or Tribal Territories) include the regions where we gather materials for our communities. Here we can define that Native Territories cover additional regions beyond our Reservations.

Activity: Hiking/Beach
Description: Here we will dive more into Tribal Natural Resources located at Torrey Pines State Beach. This picks up from Mondays Presentation on Natural Resources and how it is utilized among Tribes.

Activity/Fieldwork: Kayaking (wear beachwear)
Description: Sometimes we need to have a break and have fun and socialize. More importantly cultural preservation includes managing our territories and committing to jointly utilize such regions. The beach areas were part of that ideal.
Further, La Jolla Shores, is an underwater preserve that leads us to understand what conservationist and Tribes can accomplish when working together to preserve areas that are important.
