AIR Summer Projects are centered around cultural themes. Our hopes are to have students think about cultural leadership, preservation, and academics. We believe that this ideal is intrinsic to our native youth who do not usually have the opportunity to learn about American Indian Cultural heritage within the public schools our in the normal scope of life outside their Tribes.
Our goal is to create interest among our students on American Indian history, cultural ideals, and identity empowering our students to rise towards leading our American Indian communities towards a greater future.
Our program has been developing for nearly 30 years with input from numerous staff, mentors, Tribal partners, parents and students. Yes, we even learn from our youth. Overall, we are proud of our accomplishments as today, in San Diego County alone, our students have been elected to their Tribal Councils, become nurses, teachers, doctors and lawyers.
Our program is about all of communities working together for our Native Youth and for our future...
