Dr. Emmanuel Bakare

Bakare Emmanuel Afolabi is a Professor (Associate) of Biomathematics & Applied Mathematical Modeling with a primary research interest in malaria and NTDs modeling. Prof Bakare is the site director of WAMCAD in Nigeria and the Director of the International Centre for Applied Mathematics. Modeling and Data Analytics, Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. He is currently a regular visiting scientist at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy a UNESCO centre. He is currently an academic staff of the Department of Mathematics, Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. He bagged his Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Ibadan while part of his PhD research work was carried out for six months at the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, India, under the sponsorship of the Department of Science and Technology Govt. of India. Bakare was a recipient of the prestigious Swiss Govt. Excellence Scholarship for a one-year Postdoctoral training at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, University of Basel, Switzerland in 2018/19. He was also a recipient of the prestigious TWAS fellowship (The World Academy of Science) and many other fellowships/scholarships and awards both locally and internationally. Bakare has over 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has visited more than 20 nations of the world to attend/present in scientific workshops and conferences through a few local but many international grants. He is a member of the International Centre for Pure & Applied Mathematics (CIMPA- ICPAM), Nice, France, and several associations both at home and abroad. He has collaborators in almost all the continents of the world, who work within his area of research. He has been a consultant to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), and several other organizations. Bakare has taught infectious disease modelling to postgraduate students at Duke University US & Moi University, Kenya. He was a Visiting Professor at Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, Nigeria.
