Students, here's your opportunity to shine behind the scenes. From lighting to costumes, set building to stage management, our productions depend on the creativity of our student crews.
Whether you're a technical expert, have a knack for visual design, or want to try something new, there's a role for you! The tech crew offers a chance to grow in a challenging and rewarding environment, building teamwork and confidence.
Don't miss this chance to be part of the AMSA Theater family.
As part of the Costume Crew, you'll partner with our experienced costume designer. Your job is to make sure every actor's outfit fits well and matches their character. You'll be picking costumes from our collection and sometimes crafting new pieces. During performances, you'll be backstage helping actors change into their next costumes quickly and fixing any last-minute issues.
Joining the Lighting Crew means you get to work directly with the lighting designer to set the stage's mood and focus. You'll help position the stage lights and decide when they should be on or off, creating the perfect atmosphere for each scene. During performances, you'll be in control of the light board and spotlights, helping to bring the story to life.
The Set Builders crew is where imagination meets construction. With your help, the stage will transform into the play's world. You'll use tools and paint under the guidance of our set designer to build various set pieces and props. During the actual performances, some team members will also have the role of moving these set pieces on and off stage.
As a member of the Sound Crew, you'll collaborate with the sound designer to ensure top-notch audio quality. You'll adjust the sound levels in the auditorium, making sure every word and note is clear. Additionally, you'll assist actors with their microphone setups and be in charge of music and sound effects during the play.
Being a Stage Manager is a multifaceted job. You'll be an essential part of every rehearsal and performance. Your responsibilities include keeping track of props, helping with scene changes, and ensuring everything is set before the curtain rises. You'll work closely with the director and the rest of the crew to make sure everything goes as planned.
As an Usher, your role is a welcoming one. You'll greet the audience members as they arrive and guide them to their seats, making their experience enjoyable from the start. Simple tasks like answering questions about restroom locations will also be part of your duties. The highlight? When you're not actively ushering, you'll have the opportunity to watch the performance free of charge. This role offers a unique blend of customer service and behind-the-scenes access to the show.
