This year’s House Dance competition was truly spectacular, with the theme of Banksy inspiring creativity, energy and incredible performances across all Houses. The captains did an outstanding job choreographing and leading their Houses, resulting in an unforgettable showcase of talent and teamwork. Every House performed brilliantly, making the judges' decision tougher than ever.
A massive congratulations to this year's 2025 House Dance winners, Hughenden! You should all be really proud of yourselves. A massive well done to everyone involved in House Dance 2025.

A group of Year 13 students spent a day at Park Square Capital in London last week, where they were able to meet staff, learn about what they do and gain insight into a career in private markets. They also worked on case studies and explored Environment, Sustainability and Governance. We are really grateful to Park Square Capital for inviting our students to take part in such a valuable event.

This week our Year 13 sociology students went on a trip to a sociology conference in Westminster. The conference was an opportunity for students to hear presentations from leading sociologists and academics who addressed a range of challenging and powerful questions on how society functions, the factors which influence our choices and how we experience life. The topics covered included an exploration of celebrity culture and the media, the inequalities that exist within modern childhood and an overview of research on the criminal justice system. Amongst the guest speakers was award-winning sociologist and writer Professor Ann Oakley who presented a fascinating session on feminism and the impact of gender within the family and society. The day also included an invaluable lunchtime exam session to propel students to even greater exam success.

Year 13 Spanish and Art students have just returned from 5 fabulous action-packed days in Madrid, enjoying blue skies, sunshine and the Spanish lifestyle. We visited two key art museums, the Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (to see Picasso's masterpiece "Guernica") and el Museo del Prado, the largest art gallery in Europe. We also went to see the Galería de Colecciones Reales (Royal Collection), el Museo de la Luz (Light Museum) and the Museo de América (Latin American Museum). Spanish students watched a production of "La casa de Bernarda Alba", the play they are currently studying, while Art students undertook Señora Medley's inaugural tour of the street art of Malasaña. We watched an incredible flamenco show, tried both tapas and churros con chocolate (separately!), and walked over 20,000 steps every day. The students were fantastic company and the hostel manager complimented them on their excellent behaviour; they were a real credit to themselves and AHS.
