Dear Parents, Carers, and Students
Welcome back after the half-term break to a packed week of exciting events and academic focus.
Firstly, well done to our students (and accompanying staff) who embarked on the yearly Spanish exchange to Murcia. I was delighted to hear about how our brilliant young people engaged with the cultural immersion and language practice with strength, confidence and independence. #AHSWalksTall
This week, our Year 11 Food Technology students were showcasing their skills in their NEA practicals. We wish them all the very best, as they put their hard work into practice.
We were absolutely delighted to host the Different Directions Event which welcomed four incredible guest speakers who have faced indecision and changed their education or career path. One of the guest speakers was our lovely AHS Alumna Helena Rowland (Professional England Rugby Player and Olympian)! This was a truly exceptional opportunity for our students and the wider school community. Thank you to Mrs Burt for her hard work in organising this event.
For our Year 11 parents and students, the Year 11 Consultation Evening was a vital opportunity to discuss progress and plans for upcoming exams. Thank you to all who gave time to this important event.
Before Half term
Netball
Despite the driving rain, the U12s delivered a powerhouse performance against Cottesloe School, "smashing it" across both fixtures. The A team displayed such clinical dominance that they transitioned to a friendly at halftime after reaching a 20-1 lead, while the B team followed suit with a flawless 19-0 shutout.
The U14s kept the winning streak alive against Waddesdon School, braving the rain with fantastic effort and smiles all around. The A team secured a 10-4 victory, while the B team fought hard for an 8-6 win, with Lauren and Priyanshi earning well-deserved Players of the Match.
This week
Netball
The U15 B team secured a fantastic 13–12 victory over Waddesdon School, with Iliana named Player of the Match. The U15 A team also put in a resilient performance, nearly pulling off a comeback with a strong final-quarter surge to finish just two goals short at 17–15. Sophia earned Player of the Match for the A team, and there was a special mention for Aamy, who played up excellently to support the squad.

Once again we entered the prestiguious Show Racism the Red Card art competion to promote anti racism before half term. Through art our students are able to have a voice to deliver a powerful message creatively to challenge stereotypes, spark conversations, and inspire others to stand together against racism. This year students from Year 7, 9, 10, and 12 entered the competition. The standards once again were exceptionally high making our shortlist even harder. However we are pleased to announce that the following students have been selected to enter this year. Congratulations to Georgina C in Year 12, , Matilda M in Year 10, Jheel J in Year 9 and Vivienne H In Year 8, whose work has been sent off for judging as our entries this year. All of our students have done well and some of their work is on display outside art.

A number of our Year 11 students attended the annual Materials Science Open Day. Students had the chance to experience what studying Materials Science at Oxford is like. They gained insight into the subject through taster lectures and workshop sessions, along with a feel for Oxford itself with tours of both the department and an Oxford college.
Students said:
"It was an amazing experience. I learnt a lot about Material Science. The tour of the campus was also fascinating; the food was fantastic!"
"The day was interesting :) And beneficial if you like Physics & Maths!"
"The day included touring the department and having a taster session in the lab."

Sophie A, Lily S and Libby S in Year 13, together with a number of contributors, have produced another really interesting edition of their magazine Medicine Under The Microscope. This edition includes major changes in the medical field due to COVID-19, the future of organ transplants and other fascinating medical research. Students are encouraged to get involved and write guest articles for future editions. Well done to Sophie, Lily and Libby and everyone who contributed to another impressive edition!

As we approach the upcoming exam period, we know that the "final stretch" can be a whirlwind of emotions for both students and their families. To help you navigate this time, we are hosting a dedicated session on Tuesday 24th March 2026 at 2:30pm on how parents and carers can effectively support their daughters through revision and exam season.
Will you join us? Please confirm your attendance by filling out the form here to confirm your attendance.
Did you know that 1 in 10 people will experience an eating disorder in their lifetime? Our relationship with food and our bodies is a journey that lasts a lifetime. Sometimes that journey has its bumps, and that’s okay! Whether it's a smile, a moment of patience, or choosing to focus on what our bodies can do (like hugging a pet or dancing!) rather than how they look, we can all help create a culture where everyone feels they belong. Recovery is always possible, and no one has to go it alone. Let’s look out for one another and keep the conversations open.

Eating disorders look different for everyone—it’s not just about what’s on the plate, but how we feel inside. Whether it’s struggling with certain textures, feeling out of control, or worrying about body shape, we’re here to support every student’s unique journey.
