Binta Notaras

Binta C. Ouedraogo-Notaras grew up in Burkina Faso, W. Africa. She returned to the US with her parents, and completed high school in Oceanside, CA before graduating from the University of San Diego with a BA in Political Science. She took her graduate studies at Leiden University in Holland.

Returning to W. Africa, she interned and worked in a non-profit organization and as a communications officer at the United Nations. In Burkina Faso she worked at the American embassy as a cultural attaché and education counselor for students applying to US universities.

She later worked at the International school of Ouagadougou as the school counselor. She is a TOESOL (teaching of English as second language) certified teacher, and is being certified by the Commonwealth of Virginia as French teacher.

Binta is a certified Reiki master and she is currently completing her work as yoga instructor.  With a passion for creativity, she became a metalsmith jeweler since 2012.  Most recently, Binta served as a United States Air Force Key Spouse Mentor at the inter-American Air Force Academy from June 2018-2020 and she continues her community involvement.  She is excited to be part with AHIE as treasurer but also as part of the progressive change in our education and our humanity.
