Congratulations to our 87 Andover HS students who earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program Exams!
At Andover HS, three students qualified for the National AP Scholar Award by earning an average grade of 4 or higher on a five-point scale on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. Eighteen students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. Twentythree students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams and 46 students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with grades of 3 or higher.
Of this year’s AP Scholar award recipients at Andover HS, 38 earned them as juniors and 8 earned them as sophomores. If you are a member of the Class of 2018 and 2019 you will have additional opportunities to earn another AP Scholar Award as you complete additional AP courses and exams. For those AP scholars who are alumni, we applaud and thank you for setting a high bar for all Andover HS students.
The Advanced Placement Program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated outstanding college-level achievement through AP courses and exams. Many Andover students achieve this honor each year.
AP Scholar: Awarded to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams. AHS had 29 AP Scholars in 2015-16.
AP Scholar with Honor: Awarded to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. AHS had 17 AP Scholars with Honor in 2015-16.
AP Scholar with Distinction: Awarded to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. AHS had 18 AP Scholars with distinction in 2015-16.
National AP Scholar: Awarded to students in the United States who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. AHS had 3 National AP Scholars in 2015-16.
