About Mr. Idler

Personal Bio:

I am from Fort Collins, Colorado and had a great view of the mountains as I grew up. I love rock climbing, hiking, and skiing. After graduating from Rocky Mountain High School, I went to Wartburg College where I was involved in as many music groups, including both concert bands, both Jazz bands, Orchestra, Brass Quintet, and Pep Band. I met my wife, Katie, in a brass quintet at Wartburg. Her main instrument is french horn and mine is trumpet. Katie is currently the music teacher at St. Paul’s in Waverly. She also a board certified music therapist and provides music therapy in this area. We are excited to be back in this part of Iowa and enjoy our house in Parkersburg with our beautiful cat, Mitzi.

Professional Bio:

After graduating from Wartburg College in 2013, I accepted a position in Northeast Iowa in Guttenberg and Garnavillo. I taught all 5-12 instrumental music as well as K-2 general music. It was very rewarding getting to work with almost every student in the district and see their growth. I am enjoying teaching 5th grade beginning band members along with the high school band here at AGWSR. If I'm not in Ackley, you will find me teaching 6th grade band and 6th grade music exploratory at A-P Middle School in Aplington.
