Advent of Code is an annual set of Christmas-themed computer programming challenges that follow an Advent calendar.

It has been running since 2015. The programming puzzles cover a variety of skill sets and skill levels and can be solved using any programming language. There is an advanced version of this available at https://adventofcode.com/ .I usually get KS4 and KS5 to complete these challenges in their spare time so that it keeps their programming knowledge ticking over.

This year I have created a version which is accessible to students in year 7-9. It will give them a brief intro to the question / challenge and they will be submitting their answers to me on my own Google Classroom.

If you're another school, you may use these challenges. I will release answer sheets after the christmas holidays so that you can assess how well your students have completed these challenges.
