The motto of the XII International Shallow Lakes Conference is “Inside, beside, and beyond".
This guiding theme expresses our vision and approach to our research on shallow lakes.
"Inside" refers to our perspective on the ecosystem itself, its biodiversity, the interactions between living organisms, and the forces that regulate the system's state, whether in equilibrium or not.
"Beside" represents the watershed perspective -- the need to understand each water body as a product of geology, geomorphology, climate, and human activities -- and it also encompasses the recognition and appreciation of the ecosystem services that shallow lakes provide to the entire biosphere and to society.
"Beyond" leads us away the field of limnology, because our discipline has given rise to ideas, concepts, and paradigms that have transcended the boundaries of water and have inspired general ecology and other sciences, such as economics and sociology.
This conference will be an excellent opportunity to revisit what we have learned, and to gain new inspiration for the future.

Conference Venue
The congress will take place at the School of Agriculture of Buenos Aires University
Founded in 1904 as the Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine, it is the Argentinian main training center for professionals dedicated to agricultural production, the environment, and various other fields focused on natural resources. It is located on a 60-hectare park, the main green area in the northwest part of Buenos Aires city. The lectures, oral presentations, and poster sessions will take place in their halls and classrooms, while the breaks will take place in their gardens.
The School of Agriculture is 45-60 minutes from the city center under normal weekday traffic.
The neighborhoods of Paternal, Parque Chas, and Villa del Parque are a 15-30 minute walk from the Faculty of Agronomy, but their residential/commercial character may not offer all the necessary amenities for discerning travelers.
Belgrano, Villa Urquiza, or Palermo can be a good compromise between distance and services when looking for accommodation.
