Jonathan Nzoma, DO

Executive Director & Founder

Dr. Jonathan Nzoma is the Executive Director and Founder of Afya

(Health) International, a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) community health

education organization in Detroit, MI. Afya was awarded grants

for tobacco prevention including a model program award

from Prevention Network when Dr. Nzoma was in medical

school and residency. As an orthopedic surgeon and sports

medicine specialist, the organization's new focus is community

problem solving related to joint pain.

Our focus is on improving joint pain outcomes including:

-Increased awareness of joint pain treatment options

-Reducing pain and fatigue

-Improved strength, balance, walking pace

-Increased confidence in self management of arthritis

-Increased physical activity

-Increased perceived well-being

-Improved communication with physicians

-Improved navigation and utilization of orthopedic specialists
