AET Schools Teacher Training is delivered in partnership
with Ark Teacher Training.
National Criteria
To join any Initial Teacher Training Programme in the UK, candidates must satisfy the below criteria as set out by the Department for Education (DfE). You must:
Have a level 4 (grade C) or above in Maths and English GCSE or equivalent (and a Science subject if you are applying to teach Primary).
Hold (or will do by the start of the programme) an Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the programme.
Not currently hold Qualified Teacher Status
AET Teacher Training Criteria
All teacher training programmes vary, as do their requirements and assessment of suitable candidates. We want to ensure that our pupils are taught by the best and brightest teachers possible to give them an outstanding education and start in life, which is why we look for the following qualifications and characteristics in potential candidates:
If you would like to teach Secondary, a strong A Level (grade C or above) or Degree relevant to the subject you want to teach is preferable.
At least a 2:2 Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) by the start of the programme.
