HMI Development by AECS
HMI for a complex wastewater process with dynamic graphics and hidden buttons under each process device for pop-up screens for setpoints and controls. This touch screen is interfacing with a Rockwell ControlLogix PLC.
During this project, the customer wanted to trigger an ISCO sampler to draw samples based on levels of an instrument that is outputting an analog signal. I assisted with programming their sampler for a 24 bottle carousel and the ability to be triggered by a PLC digital output. I wrote a PLC program, in their existing Rockwell ControlLogix PLC, that scales the signal from the instrument, then triggers sampling based on high/low setpoints. They wanted the ability to know what type of sample was taken and what time/date each sample was take, the ability to change sampling setpoints, and the ability to change the amount of time between samples. I developed new screens in their existing Automation Direct C-More HMI that interfaces with my program in the ControlLogix.
The photo on the left is an obsolete and faulty interface form a triplex pump station. When this interface failed, the customer lost the ability to see well levels and setpoints, the ability to rotate lead pump, and the ability to see alarm conditions. I was able to interface this new 7in touch screen with their existing AB Micrologix PLC, on a very affordable budget.
