Hobbies: Grown ups share their hobbies with us! We learn all about fishing, raising chickens, sewing, playing guitar, dance and more.
Picture Poem: Students draw four different pictures that explain about themselves - what they are good at, their favorite food, something they like to do by themselves, and something they like to do with others.
Student Interviews: During morning meeting, students take turns asking and answering questions about themselves in complete sentences. ("What color are your eyes?" "Do you like to play basketball?" "Do you have any pets?" "What is your favorite color?")
What Can I Do? What Do I Want to Learn to Do?: Students make a list of the things they can do and the things they would like to learn how to do, yet. Then, we practice doing some of these activities to see if we can learn to do them by the end of our unit.
Community Map: Students create a map of our school community by illustrating the school, houses, buildings, and businesses that surround our school.
Organizing the Classroom: Students help keep the classroom and school organized by discovering why it is important to have systems in place like: classroom jobs, toy bins, table caddys, etc.
Guest Speakers: Students meet with various staff members at AEA to find out more about their job and the systems they use at school to say organized.
