Aspen Road Bridge Replacement (Hawkins Ford Bridge)

Project & Schedule Updates

Project Overview

Hawkins Ford Bridge was built in 1900 by the Canton Bridge Co. and relocated to its current location on Aspen Rd in 1915.  The bridge consists of two 80ft pony-truss spans supported by concrete abutments and intermediate pier.  Hawkins Ford Bridge has been a place for the community to gather on fishing trips, baptisms, and other recreational activities on Finley Creek.

The proposed structure is anticipated to be a three-span concrete structure approximately 300ft in length.  As many of the existing aspects of the trusses will be included in the new bridge as much as possible to keep the aesthetics of the historic bridge ingrained in the community.
