FAQ

Are existing truss structures going to be removed or relocated as part of this project?

It is currently envisioned to reuse the existing trusses as decorative pieces adjacent to the new bridge.

How long is the projected construction period?

The closure length will depend on the alignment alternative selected. An estimated range is between 6 and 12 months depending on when the Contractor gets started.

Will the bridge be closed for the entire construction period?

The Contractor will be encouraged to keep the existing bridge open as long as possible such that it doesn’t impact construction progress.

Will the new bridge be wider than the existing one lane bridge?

Yes, the new bridge will have two 12’ lanes and shoulders between the bridge rails.

Will the new bridge have pedestrian/cyclist accommodations?

Shoulders will be provided on each side; however, no bike lanes or sidewalks will be specifically added since neither are available on the roadway leading to the bridge.

Will there be any road improvements on either side of the new bridge?

The road will be improved on the bridge approaches for a short distance to accommodate tying into the existing pavement.

Will the new bridge have any detrimental effects on the stream below?

The new bridge will mostly span the channel with no piers in the main channel which should ultimately improve the stream flow characteristics.

Will the new bridge require additional right-of-way or easements from adjacent property owners?

Yes, and the extent will depend on the alternative alignment selected.

Will the adjacent properties be accessible by their owners during construction?

Yes, the Contractor will be required to maintain access during construction for adjacent property owners.

Will any improvements be made to existing driveways impacted by the construction?

Driveways impacted by the construction will be reconstructed/relocated to connect with the new approach roadways a safe distance from the new bridge.
