As part of the Visual Education course, in conjunction with the Erasmus+ Let Us Green Again project, students from classes 9.º B, 9.º C and 9.º D developed proposals for the creation of a mascot that would establish an emotional, close and friendly relationship with the project.
High-quality proposals were submitted, and the work of student Sofia Martins, from class 9.º D, was selected.
The mascot will later be constructed in 3D and will accompany our students in their learning activities abroad. It will have the special mission of telling the story of the project from the students' perspective, giving voice to their experiences and lessons learned along the way.
The image created by the student represents the Bee Green project mascot, symbolising sustainability, environmental awareness and European spirit.
It is a smiling bee, drawn in vibrant colours and expressive lines, conveying joy and dynamism. It wears a green hat decorated with flowers, reinforcing the connection to nature and the school's organic garden. In one hand, it holds a small globe, representing the global dimension of environmental education and the connection to the Erasmus LUGA project. On its chest, it carries a small camera, suggesting observation, learning and sharing experiences.
The purple wings and the contrast with the yellow and black of the body create an appealing visual effect, while the cheerful expression symbolises the students' enthusiasm for restoring and revitalising the organic garden.
Overall, the image conveys a clear message: caring for the planet with creativity, responsibility and a spirit of cooperation.
The textile company Perditex collaborated with the Erasmus+ project ‘Let Us Green Again’, taking place at the António Nobre School Group, by donating textile waste, which will be given new life in an educational and creative context.
This partnership promotes sustainability, reuse and environmental awareness, involving our students in more responsible and innovative practices.
Our school would like to thank CIN – Corporação Industrial do Norte, based in Maia, for its generous donation of paint to the António Nobre School Cluster’s of School.
This paint is the result of a colour matching process — materials that, although not commercially used, retain all their quality and are now given a new lease of life through reuse.
This donation will enable us to develop various educational and creative projects with our students, promoting sustainability and the reuse of resources.
The paints will be used for:
Painting traditional games in the school's outdoor area
Creating artistic murals
Beautifying the school garden area, currently in undergoing renovation, among other things.
This initiative is also linked to the LUGA Erasmus Project, reinforcing values such as sustainability, creativity and the active involvement of students in improving school spaces.
We thank CIN for helping us transforming waste into learning, art and community.
During the first semester, schools in the group, from primary to secondary level, developed various environmental education initiatives, notably exploring the Peneda-Gerês National Park, activities under the Eco-Schools Programme and partnerships with local companies, promoting sustainability and environmental preservation.
At the same time, actions were taken to promote healthy and sustainable eating, raising students' awareness of the importance of balanced and responsible habits for their health and for the planet.
These initiatives were publicised in the Jornal Sólido newspaper, reinforcing recognition of the work carried out by the group in educating conscious and responsible citizens.
Official Banner
On 27 th February, students participating in Let Us Green Again project, part of Erasmus+, marked another important milestone by taking part in the unveiling of the project's official banner at School.
This symbolic gesture reinforces the dissemination of the work carried out and highlights the environmental commitment and raising awareness among the entire educational community to the importance of acting for a more sustainable future.
Students are responsible for sharing, through photography, situations they observe in their cities related to the excessive or incorrect use of plastic. Students from Portugal, Italy, and Turkey are participating in this project, seeking to record examples from everyday life that often go unnoticed.
By documenting these moments, students become active observers of their surroundings and help to highlight practices that can have an impact on the planet. These photographs aim to promote reflection, raise awareness of the problem of plastic in the community and encourage more conscious and responsible attitudes in everyday life.
