I have selected the TOK prompt. Why do we seek knowledge? It's exploring our curiosity and what we know.

Having been changed numerous times over the future, chess is speculated to have originated in India known as chatrang and created in 6th century BCE. The purpose being to help develop strategic plans and predict enemy movement with the use of wood pieces. The game centers around protecting a “King '' piece which is the commanding piece in battle with the inclusion of 8 pawns that would be in the front 8 spaces protecting the other specialized pieces of the game. We seek knowledge from chess by predicting the outcome of our enemy, another origin story being from a commander Han Xi around 200 B.C to represent a battle for the Wei River but it is just speculation. The game traveled westward due to merchandising and picked up interest in the game to increase intelligence. People sought the knowledge of chess to feel superior in strategy against another person and felt as if they were of higher intelligence. It was a classless game with people from all classes playing the game, traditional chess is played with eight pawns, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, one queen and one king. Strategizing was the key to this game and people performed at higher and higher levels to test their knowledge and memory even against A.I. The most notable being against Deep Blue Vs. Gary Kasparov to mark that a human could beat computer technology. After losing many games Deep Blue made a mistake moving to a certain square securing Gary’s victory. People seek knowledge to become smarter and intelligent to the point of being a genius

Before Apollo 13s creation and the assembly of its crew 2 other Apollo spacecraft were created to collect knowledge on the unknown vastness of space. In 1968 Apollo 8 was the first mission created and ship created to send people on the moon and it was led by 4 astronauts James McDivitt, David Scott, and Russell Schweickart each of these astronauts had to undergo numerous trials of training to become qualified for a mission in space. Knowledge is sought out to have more of an edge, as the cold war between the USA and the USSR to send a man to the moon first. . It was sought out to know more about space being so unknown and not explored such as the ocean. The development of new technology gave an edge to the US but led to another mission called Apollo 13 known as the successful failure. With the new rocket being the third mission that NASA had done, they sent a veteran from Apollo 8 to command the force of Apollo 11. Apollo 13 had to quickly circle the orbit sending its way back onto earth. The reason being a “Successful mission” was because NASA had never encountered such a troublesome problem having a 76% survival rate and with the trajectory thrown out of balance. Thanks to the use of an Omega Speedmaster watch it helped them calculate the amount of time they could periodically use fuel to boost themselves back into trajectory and back towards earth's atmosphere. Humans hunger for knowledge especially if it's about the unknown and what we can do successfully to infiltrate it and do it safely. In time people wish to inhabit areas of space but in order to do so we need the utmost safe technology otherwise it could end in catastrophe almost like the fate of Apollo 13.
Object: Nikola Tesla Coil Experiment
The pursuit of knowledge is something that every genius of every generation has tried to obtain. Inventors and innovators alike create things to see how things work and to further develop our society. Tesla was a man regarded with high intelligence and had a lifelong dream of wireless transmission and connection with the use of his coils which he named “Tesla coils' ' after himself. Not only did it serve as wireless translation it was used as radio technology and innovated off of the creation of the lightbulb. The original design and use of the lightbulb was to replace using candles and kerosene lamps, lighting was created for the purpose of bettering living conditions and a last longing source of light that would illuminate through the night and twelve years later in 1891 and instead of running between 2 wires of copper it used a high voltage charge and sent electrons through each one of the ends to a magnetic conductor that channeled the energy and transmitted its own electricity through the air to a source using the dangerous element. This energy could be controlled and he sought out a solution to create a form of lighting that would last forever and not run out due to the materials and size of a bulb. Nikola also speculated on the idea of using a “super coil” weapon that would channel the high amount of electricity although this was dismissed and we used it instead for communicating with radios due to its wireless transmission of energy making it a great innovation and invention, we invent and innovate to improve our lives but some people create for the purpose of bettering society and technological developments.
