February 20, 2025 – The atmosphere in Purwakarta was vibrant as the welcoming ceremony for the newly inaugurated Regent and Deputy Regent of Purwakarta, Mr. Saepul Bahri Binzein and Mr. Abang Ijo Hapidin, took place. Thousands of students from SMPN 1 Purwakarta participated in the event by playing the traditional musical instrument bangkong reang. The rhythmic sounds produced by the bamboo instruments symbolized the students' support and warm welcome for their new leaders.
The students lined up along R. E. Martadinata Street at around 2:30 PM. While waiting for the arrival of the elected regent, they sang and played their musical instruments. The inclusion of bangkong reang in the welcoming ceremony was a deliberate effort to preserve and introduce cultural heritage to the students. The echoing bamboo sounds served as a prayer and a symbol of hope for the new leadership. The bangkong reang melody represented the strong support and expectations of the community for their new leaders.
Throughout the event, the students were fully accompanied by teachers and school officials. The teachers guided and ensured that every aspect of the event ran smoothly, from rehearsals to the actual performance.
