Rules & Regulations
The Central Library is committed to providing a peaceful, safe, and resourceful learning environment for all users. Members are requested to observe the following rules and regulations while using the library facilities.
General Rules
All personal belongings, except notebooks and essential study materials, must be kept at the property counter located at the library entrance.
Absolute silence must be maintained within the library premises.
The use of mobile phones inside the library is strictly prohibited. Phones should be kept in silent mode.
Books removed from the shelves should be left on the reading tables after use. Users should not attempt to re-shelve books.
Writing, underlining, highlighting, folding pages, tearing pages, or causing any damage to library materials is strictly prohibited.
Library furniture, equipment, and resources should be handled with care.
Food, beverages, and smoking are not permitted inside the library.
Users must carry their valid Library Identity Card while visiting the library and produce it when requested.
Any violation of library rules may result in the suspension or cancellation of library membership and borrowing privileges.
The Chief Librarian reserves the right to suspend or revoke the membership of any user found misbehaving, causing disturbance, damaging library property, or disrespecting library staff.
Book Borrowing Rules
Borrowing privileges are available only to registered library members.
Every registered member will be issued a Library Identity Card-cum-Reader's Ticket, which is non-transferable.
Library membership remains valid only while the member is enrolled or employed at the institution.
Students may borrow up to two (2) books at a time for a maximum period of 15 days.
Faculty members may borrow up to ten (10) books for the duration of one academic semester.
Non-teaching staff may borrow up to two (2) books for the duration of one academic semester.
Books may be renewed once, provided no reservation has been made by another user.
A fine of ₹1.00 per day per book will be charged for overdue books.
Loss of the Library Identity Card-cum-Reader's Ticket must be reported immediately to the Librarian. A duplicate card will be issued upon payment of ₹20.
Loss or Damage of Library Books
Any loss of borrowed books must be reported immediately to the Librarian.
The borrower must replace the lost book with the latest edition of the same title.
If the latest edition is unavailable, the borrower shall pay the replacement cost as determined by the library, along with any applicable overdue charges.
Members are responsible for any damage caused to borrowed library materials.
Book Recommendations
The Central Library encourages suggestions for strengthening its collection. Recommendations for the purchase of books, journals, and other learning resources are welcomed from:
Students
Faculty Members
Researchers
All recommendations will be considered based on academic relevance, curriculum requirements, budget availability, and institutional priorities.
No Due Certificate
Students and staff applying for a Library No Due Certificate must:
Return all library books and other borrowed materials.
Clear any outstanding overdue fines or replacement charges.
Surrender the Library Identity Card-cum-Reader's Ticket, wherever applicable.
The No Due Certificate will be issued only after verification that there are no pending liabilities with the library.
Compliance
All library users are expected to comply with these rules and regulations to ensure a disciplined, secure, and conducive academic environment. The Library Committee and the Chief Librarian reserve the right to amend these rules from time to time in the interest of effective library administration.
