Aiki Academy is a unique program designed to help your child develop important self-regulation skills alongside improved body awareness, general improved fitness and wellbeing.
Think of self-regulation as your child learning to better understand and manage their feelings, thoughts, and actions.
Our unique approach is founded on the principles of Aikido and based on over 10 years of children’s Aikido classes (our “AikiKids” Program). Aikido is a Japanese martial art that aims to effectively resolve conflict without resorting to brutality.
Aiki Academy does not teach martial skills that damage children’s growing bodies, nor do we program an aggressive response to conflict.
Key Features
A Safe & Supportive "Dojo" Environment
An Aiki Academy class isn't just a physical space; it's an empowering culture built on Aikido's principles of harmony and respect.
Emotional & Physical Safety
Safety is the priority. We create a welcoming environment where everyone feels safe emotionally and physically. Our instructors guide every activity, and we promote a culture of mutual care, just as students support each other in Aikido practice.
Respect and Mindfulness (Reigi)
Reigi is a Japanese term for practices of showing respect, good behavior, and being mindful. These become anchors for positive habits and are fundamental to martial arts etiquette.
Training is conducted in a consistent, respectful, and empowering environment. It's a fun and engaging space where children feel safe to learn and grow
Learning Through Cooperation
Aikido is unique because it's only truly learned through cooperation. This results in a high level of integrated Co-Regulation where students learn to manage themselves with others; instructors and peers.
Experienced & Caring Instructors
Your child will learn from experienced instructors who use an engaging and detailed curriculum. They're great at motivating kids!
