A: Usually the main buildings for SBG are Martin Hall, Finster Hall and Canisius Hall.
Q: Where do I find announcements for enrollment and similar things?
A: Usually it is announced in the class group chats but there are Facebook pages for the Admissions Office and the Ateneo de Davao University
Q: Perfect tambay spots?
A: Grass Beds, Student Offices (If you belong to an organization), Libraries (Mig-Pro, Gisbert, American-Corner), Empty Classrooms, In-Between Classrooms, Canteen, Gazebos.
Q: What are GE courses and are we required to take them?
A: GE stands for General Education. These are subjects that are common to all undergraduates in a university, regardless of their specific major or program.
Q: Terror profs?
A: Don't hesitate to ask your seniors; they are always open to help out!
Q: How do I log into the schools wifi?
A: It's ADDU J NET or similar. Input your password and name. Same as your Daigler password (ex: name: John D. Doe = (jddoe) Password: AdDUID no. (AdDU2202333444400))
Q: What is a beadle?
A: A beadle takes attendance per their assigned class and updates it to their website. Professors will give more information once chosen to be a beadle.
Q: What is SAMAHAN?
A: Ateneo de Davao University's student council
Q: Can I leave my stuff in the tambay areas and libraries?
A: Yes and No. Yes if you have someone to watch over it, No since they can and will confiscate these items (Mostly the libraries) and will give you a slip for it.
Q: What's OSA?
A: Office of Student Affairs! They handle all student related activities, where you can find lost items and express and find other student related concerns.
Q: Is it true that students are allowed to leave if the professor isn't present after 15 minutes?
A: Typically yes. However, you must discuss it with your professor on the first day, some allow, some don't. If not, please let your beadle contact the prof.
Q: When are the usual events?
A: The schedule will vary based on the university’s academic calendar.
Q: Is shifting easy within SBG courses?
A: It truly depends, but rest assured the department chairs are there to help. And it would be preferred face to face.
Q: Does BM have special events?
A: Yes we do! But it depends on the calendar of activites.
Q: Do the professors require certain books?
A: It depends on the course you’re taking and the professor handling it. Some may require specific textbooks, while others might provide soft copies of the readings or not require a book at all. Professors may also suggest finding sources online or borrowing from the library if needed.
On Absences
As provided for in Sec. 1551 of the Manual of Regulations for Private Schools, a student who has incurred absences of more than 20% of the total number of class meetings in a given time should not be given credit.
Any subject meeting once a week = 3 absences maximum
Any subject meeting twice a week = 7 absences maximum
Any subject meeting thrice a week = 10 absences maximum
On Lateness
A student is late when he/she is not yet present during the roll call and until the fifteenth minute from the start of the class. The start of class is signaled by the ringing of the bell.
Lateness beyond fifteen minutes is considered an absence in all courses, regardless of the duration of the class.
Three instances of lateness are counted as one absence.
