Operational Planning
Operational Planning
As we move forward with the implementation of Fortiores 2030, our university’s strategic plan for the next five years, we now enter a critical phase of translating vision into action. This phase is where the university’s strategic commitments are translated into concrete programs, initiatives, and outcomes across our departments, offices, and centers. More than a technical exercise, operational planning is an invitation to communal discernment—to listen together for how our unit’s mission can respond to the needs of our time, to act in deeper alignment with our shared commitments, and to articulate how each of us will help move the university forward. As with the strategic planning process, we commence this next phase with grounded, prayerful conversations in our respective units and offices—trusting that clarity, direction, and energy will emerge from within our communities.
Our planning is grounded on five principles. First, it begins with spirituality: we understand planning as a communal response to God’s call, animated by discernment and mission. Second, it is strategic, requiring that all efforts align with one or more of the seven Strategic Commitments of Fortiores 2030. Third, it is informed by systems thinking, recognizing that no unit works in isolation and that collaboration enhances our institutional impact. Fourth, the process follows a results-based approach, beginning with desired outcomes and working backward to define outputs, activities, and inputs. Finally, it affirms participatory governance, where units lead their own planning in context, and their efforts are integrated into a university-wide direction.
The operational planning process will take place in five phases over an eleven-week period, beginning 1 July 2025. Importantly, each phase includes opportunities to validate insights and receive feedback from the ground up, allowing for a more integrative, dialogic, and responsive approach throughout the planning cycle.
To begin Phase 1, all units are asked to hold a 2–3 hour spiritual conversation, guided by the questions provided. The purpose is to discern the unit’s alignment with Fortiores 2030, surface commitments and outputs, and reflect on roles, risks, and resources. Units should assign a facilitator and documenter, ensure a quiet and prayerful setting, and focus on their own mission and contribution—avoiding commentary on the work of others.
The insights from these conversations should be documented using the provided structure and submitted to your head of office. This will serve as the basis for your operational plan for the years 2025–2030.
If your unit needs assistance or has questions regarding the planning process, tools, or timelines, you may contact the Office of Strategic Management and Quality Assurance (OSMQA) at osmqa.director@addu.edu.ph or the Office of the President at pres@addu.edu.ph.
Both offices are available to help ensure that your planning process is clear, aligned, and well-supported.
