Lauren Warnke is originally from Ripon, Wisconsin and holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Choral and General Music Education from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. During her time at UWSP, she studied under Professor Susan Bender, Professor Lucinda Thayer, Dr. Shawn Cody Miller, and Dr. Rachel Brashier.
Mrs. Warnke began her teaching career in Sullivan, Ohio, where she taught 5th Grade General Music as well as 6th through 12th Grade Choir for Black River Local Schools. She is now in her third year at Shadow Ridge Middle School in Thornton, Colorado, where she teaches 6th through 8th Grade Choir. In previous years at Shadow Ridge, she also taught Band and Music Appreciation. She currently co-sponsors the Student Council and the school musicals.
Known for her energetic and enthusiastic teaching style, Mrs. Warnke creates a welcoming environment where students feel inspired to grow as musicians. Her musical journey began early in life. Starting with piano lessons, she developed a strong interest in music that led her to join the auditioned Badger State Girl Choir at age 8. She performed across the United States and internationally in Spain, Ireland, Puerto Rico, and Italy, where she had the honor of singing for the Pope. She later picked up trombone in middle school and has performed in a wide variety of ensembles including choirs, concert bands, jazz bands, musicals, and operas.
In addition to music, Mrs. Warnke was a competitive gymnast throughout elementary, middle, and high school. She later transitioned to tennis and track and field, which inspired her to coach track and field while teaching in Ohio.
Mrs. Warnke enjoys spending time with her husband, who is currently pursuing a doctorate in trumpet performance. Outside of school, she also enjoys traveling, being outdoors, attempting to bake, and playing board games.
