Auditions

Incoming / Current Students

Incoming students (including current 8th graders) and current students not currently enrolled in choir may audition for advanced ensembles. Consult the individual choir pages to see which would be the best fit for you to audition for. Please email Mr. George to schedule an in-person (preferred), online, or recorded audition, and prepare the following:

Advanced Treble

• "My Country Tis of Thee" (starting on Bb for Altos, starting on F for Sopranos)

• Major Scale starting on D

• Major / Minor Triad starting on D

Chorale

• "My Country Tis of Thee" (starting on Bb for Altos/Basses, starting on F for Sopranos/Tenors)

• Major Scale / Harmonic Minor / Melodic Minor Scale starting on D

• Major / Minor / Diminished / Augmented Triad starting on D

In addition to these, you may be tested on other skills such as tonal recall and asked a couple questions about yourself/your choral background to see which choir would be the best fit for you. 

Students currently enrolled in choir classes will audition in Winter for their placements for the following school year. 

Twilight Auditions

Twilight is open to rising juniors and seniors in the choral program (underclassmen considered on a case by case basis). Chorale is the pre-requisite for Twilight. Students would either have had to have taken Chorale or are concurrently enrolled in Chorale and Twilight (unless otherwise pre-approved by director) . 

Please record yourself singing the following and send the recording to Mr. George by 11:59 pm on Monday, February 2nd. 

• Sing the following scales starting on D:

  • Major Scale (swung)

  • Dorian Scale (swung)

  • Blues Scale (swung)

• "But Not For Me" with accompaniment track
