2) What about my cell phone?
NO PHONES! NO PHONES! NO PHONES! Students will not be allowed to have phones in the testing room...period. Not even in silent mode, airplane mode, or even powered down. They should leave their phones at home, in their cars, in their lockers, etc. If they do bring them to the testing room, they will be required to give them to the proctors who will remove them from the testing room until the test is over when they will be returned. This is also true for all headphones, ear buds, smart watches, smart glasses, and anything that uses bluetooth, wifi, or data.
3) What device will I use?
STUDENTS MUST BRING THEIR SCHOOL CHROMEBOOK
Students may not bring a personal computer, chromebook, iPad, etc. Students must use your Adams 12 device. Students may not have a privacy screen on the chromebook. Be sure the device is 100% charged. Students will not be allowed to bring in a personal backup battery (we will have them available if necessary).
4) What apps are used for the test?
AP Exams will require the use of the Bluebook App which was automatically installed by the district on student chromebooks. Students should meet with their AP teachers to practice accessing that platform in advance. STUDENTS MUST KNOW THEIR LOGIN as proctors do not have access to login information and there will not be any troubleshooting for login issues on test day.
5) What else is allowed or prohibited in the test room on test day?
Tech - Students will be allowed to bring an external mouse only if it is wired. Students will not be allowed to bring a bluetooth mouse or an external keyboard of any sort. Students
Food/water - Students will be allowed to bring food or water into the testing room but they will NOT be allowed to have it at their testing desk. It will be allowed in the room against a wall and students will only be allowed to access it with the permission of a proctor.
Backpacks/purses/etc. will be allowed in the room but not at student desks.
Clothing - While students are allowed to bring comfortable clothing, they will not be allowed to have items such as blankets and pillows at their desks. Students may not have head coverings including hats, brimmed caps, and hoodies in the "up" position.
6) Where/when do I report to the test room?
The location of the exams vary and are listed on the document linked in FAQ #1. Please have students report to the designated testing room 45 minutes before the test begins. That means 7:15am for the 8:00am exams and 11:15am for the 12:00pm exams. Exceptions are listed below:
Microeconomics - 11:30am
Macroeconomics - 11:45am
Computer Science A - 11:30am
Music Theory - 11:45am
Physics C: Mechanics - 11:30am
Computer Science Principles - 11:30am
Physics C: E&M - 11:30am
7) Can I take the exam during the make-up window?
Late exams are not permitted unless students meet specific criteria. As an example, a family vacation is not justification for missing the regular exam and taking it during the make-up window instead. Some students will be absent on the day of the exam. If a student feels he/she has a reason to miss the exam (such as being sick, a wedding, or competing in an athletic competition for LHS) they must contact Mr. Romano to discuss the situation. The plan for this year is simple: NO STUDENT WILL HAVE A LATE EXAM ORDERED UNLESS HE/SHE EMAILS MR. ROMANO ON/BEFORE THE SAME DAY AS THE EXAM THAT WAS MISSED. Students who email Mr. Romano (anthony.d.romano@adams12.org) their reason for absence and their request to take the late exam will have a late exam ordered immediately and it will be administered according to the College Board's national schedule (May 19-23). Depending on the reason for the absence the student may be denied a late exam and/or assessed an additional fee in accordance with the College Board's policies.
8) Do I have an accommodated exam?
Only students who have accommodations that were approved through the College Board will be allowed to take accommodated exams. Students should have received communication about that process already. Inquiries for students with 504's can contact Carrie Kujawa (Counselor); students with IEP's can contact Allyson Ruvere (Special Education Teacher). All students with approved accommodations will report to the same room at the same time as the rest of the students for that particular exam. After instructions are delivered they may be moved to a different room for the actual exam depending on the accommodations needed. An email will be sent from Mrs. Kujawa (roughly April 11, 2025) to all students with approved accommodations asking whether the want to use their accommodations on the AP exam(s). Students must respond immediately. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WAIVE THEIR ACCOMMODATIONS ON TEST DAY.
9) Can I opt out of the exam?
This is not an option for the AP exams per their signed contracts and school policy. All students are expected to take the exams. If there are extenuating circumstances they must be discussed with Anthony Romano and Sierra Hoover.
10) How is attendance taken?
Each day attendance will be taken and given to the attendance office. Depending on the day (actual testing start times and lengths vary). As a general rule, students will be marked as follows. An announcement will be made at the time of dismissal as a reminder to all students for which periods they are excused. Attendance records for these exams is often not updated until the end of the day. Records will be updated in Infinite Campus. Please ignore attendance phone calls on the day of the exam.
-In general, students taking morning exams (8:00am start) will be excused from periods 1-5.
-In general, afternoon exams (12:00pm start) will be released from periods 3-8.
-Any exceptions to these times may occur if a test takes longer than expected due to unforseen circumstances; in these cases an announcement will be made tot he students at that time changing the excused periods.
11) What about seniors who have an AP exam after graduation?
In those cases the senior will keep their district issued chromebook, attend graduation, bring it to the AP exam to use for the test, and then return the chromebook at the end of the test. There will be a way to turn it in as they finish the exam.
12) Do I need Identification?
Yes, please bring your school ID or state-issued ID (e.g. a driver's license) to the exam. You will need it for entry to the exam.
