Program Philosophy

It is our hope that participation in orchestra will foster better understanding and appreciation of music and help students carry with them the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will help them throughout their academic careers. Music is an invaluable part of the human experience and people’s lives have been enriched by music throughout history.

As a member of the Legacy High School Orchestras, you are expected to set high expectations for yourself and for the program. Remember, at all times that this is YOUR program and that the success of the program is dependent on what you put into it. I am completely committed to the success of this program and to building a well-known and respected music program in Colorado. All that I ask is that you give 100% every time you pick up your instrument and perform.

Legacy High School has a long history of excellence in the performing arts and it is our responsibility to maintain, build, and honor that reputation. Everything that you give to this program will be “paid forward” to the next class of musicians that pass through these halls. I ask that you respect the work of those that have come before you and those that have yet to come. As Leonardo da Vinci once expressed, "When you put your hand in a flowing stream, you touch the last that has gone before and the first of what is still to come."

Our mission is to cultivate an exceptional orchestra program that nurtures a passion for musical excellence, fosters personal growth, and inspires a lifelong commitment to the arts.
