Century Middle School Ski & Snowboard Club

General information:

The Ski/Snowboard Club is a great opportunity for students that already ski and snowboard and need a ride, or for students that would like to learn.  Our trip will be February 3rd 2025 (it is a Monday with no classes, so we can avoid traffic)  We will be taking District 12 Mountain bus for safety and comfort and will be going to Winter Park Ski Area.  We get a great deal on group tickets so while it is not inexpensive; it is the least expensive option for most students!

WHEN :February 3rd, 2025

Payment/permission slips DUE: JANUARY 17th

In the permission slip packet (attached) you find a permission slip from the district and one from Winter Park, both must be signed and turned in with the check. (I can not assign a fee in IC because every students fee will be different)

Prices:

Lift, lesson, and adult rates:

Lift tickets  6 years – 18 years  $75

18+ (adult) $110

Lessons are required for first timers

Beginner Lesson $259.00 (full day lesson, lunch, lift ticket).  FOR LESSONS YOU WILL REGISTER AND PAY THROUGH WINTER PARK-Not the school!  SEARCH ONLINE (WINTER PARK GROUP LESSONS) hopefully there is even a better deal!

*If you are a pass holder, or have a discount better than ours you are welcome to just pay for the bus and take care of your own ticket.

*6th graders, check out coloradoski.com The 6th grade Passport program is $67, you would get 4 tickets to Winter Park as well as many many more.

Transportation:  $35.00 per trip pays for a seat on the District 12 School (Mountain) Bus.  We need at least 30 students to cover the cost of the bus, but we can not have over 45.  Parents do not need to pay for the bus, but seats are limited and will go to students first….

(Continued on back)

Rental information: Without a parent/guardian present, it is not possible to rent equipment at Winter Park.  So students need to bring their own equipment or rent from a local store the night before (usually $20-25).  I recommend renting for the season if you are going 3 or more times(which is pretty much purchasing used equipment and then when you outgrow it you can exchange for a larger size) Places that I recommend checking are EPIC Mountain Gear, Christy Sports, or Broomfield Rentals.  Another great option is to get gear from 2nd time Sports in Northglenn.

Arrival and departure times: The bus will leave the CMS front lot at 6:00 A.M. If a student misses the bus, the payment cannot be refunded (tickets will already be purchased).  At the end of the day, students need to be on the bus by 4:00 P.M. The bus will pull out of the Winter Park lot at 4pm.  Do not be late!  We will return to school at approximately 6:00P.M

Supervision:

Students are on their own once we get up on the mountain.  However, they are expected to stay in groups of at least two or more.  One of the reasons that we choose Winter Park is the great first aid clinic.  We check in with them and they have my cell phone number to contact me in case there is a student lost or an injury of any kind.  We store all of our stuff in the Balcony House and use that as a meeting point for students for lunch etc…  Students are encouraged to also bring money for a locker.

Lunch and clothing/equipment:  Bring your own lunch or money to buy in the food court (expect $15 minimum for a meal).  Snacks for the bus ride up and down the mountain makes life much more pleasant.  A change of clothes is nice if you get wet.  Delays on the way home are just part of the trip.  So make sure you will be comfortable (book, music, games, etc.).  Helmets are HIGHLY recommended.  Helmets can be bought or even rented with the rest of the equipment.  Gloves are a must along with snow pants, snow jacket and hat.  Goggles are recommended as well as lip balm, sun block, etc…

A great place to purchase these items is COSTCO.

Siblings and Friends from other schools:

Everyone is welcome (middle school aged and up) as long as the money and permission slips are turned in by the due date.  However, anyone over 18 and not in high school must pay for the adult ticket $110.

Adults:  Parents and Staff are always welcome to join us.  Adult tickets through our discount are $110.  Parents and Staff will not need to pay for a seat on the bus, but I need to know who is riding the bus when the permission slips are turned in and all payments for tickets are due at the same time as students
