Mrs. Jerding
Hello Families!
I am thrilled to be your student’s teacher this year! I cannot wait to start our 2nd-grade adventure. This year is going to be filled with phenomenal growth in academics but also very important--- growth as humans!
I am a grateful transplant to Colorado from Illinois! After earning my BA in Graphic Arts from Winona State University in Minnesota, I packed up my car with my dog and headed to live on West Colfax. After living in Colorado for a few years, I heard my calling to teach. I began my teaching/coaching career at Loveland Ski Area instructing snowboarding. Shortly after, I earned my teaching certificate from Metro State. While student teaching 3rd grade in Adams 12, I also coached varsity softball in the district. I spent my first two years teaching 5th-grade science and social studies in Colorado Springs. After getting engaged, I moved back to the Denver area and taught 3rd grade in the district for six years. This will be my fifth year at STEM Lab!
Outside of school, I love spending time in the mountains. My favorite hobby is mountain biking but I also love to snowboard! I just love the meditation and thrill of being on my bike and board. My wife and I recently bought a teardrop trailer and have been enjoying the glamping life. We have two young dogs that bring us so much joy. I lost my soul dog, Maddox, in October 2020. Your child will probably hear a ton about him. I wrote a book with him as the main character and I use this book to help teach fiction. My wife and I fill our buckets by fostering dogs for a couple of dog rescues around Denver and volunteering at their events.
I currently have my Professional License in K-6 education and an endorsement in Special Education.
