My work is a reflection of the thoughts that are silenced by society that influence the shape of my perception of society. Abject art has had a significant impact on the art world by challenging the established norms of civilization and pushing the boundaries of artistic expression. By working in the realm of the abject, I can challenge typical notions of beauty and focus on the repulsive, disturbing, and grotesque. Serrano's artwork is a compelling illustration of how abject art can be utilized to spark conversation in the gallery, which is what I intend to achieve as well. A reflection of my innermost thoughts and feelings, giving an alternate perspective to mainstream art. I focus specifically on perspective on the topic of intrusive thoughts and is a reflection of my innermost feelings, specifically those focusing on the expression of dark thoughts that push societal limits. I aim to provide a space that allows the viewer to explore their innermost thoughts and feelings, and to create a dialogue about the normality of these points of view.
