Lettering in ABW HS Senior High Choir

Letters will be awarded on a point basis. To earn a letter, a student must have a total of 26 points, complete this form, and return it to their choir director within 7 days after spring concert. Participation in solo and/or ensemble contest is required to letter. Points are awarded as follows:

Full Choir Concert Large Group Contest Performances

______ 2 points are awarded for each concert, required performance and large group contest performance.

Honor Festival Participation and Performance

_______ 6 points are awarded to each student who is selected (by director nomination) and prepares and performs with the Subsection 30 Honor Choir.

______ 6 points are awarded to any student who participates in the UND Honor Festival or the Concordia Honor Festival choirs.

______ 10 points will be awarded to any student who auditions for, is accepted into, and performs with the MN Music Educator’s All State Choirs.

______ 3 points will be awarded to students who audition for an Honor ensemble and/or All State Choir and are not accepted.

Solo and Ensemble Contests

______ Students performing at the Subsection 30 solo contest are awarded 10 points for a Superior rating, 8 points for an Excellent rating, and 4 points for participation if a Superior or Excellent rating is not scored.

______ Students performing in an ensemble at the Subsection 30 contest are awarded 6 points for a Superior rating, 4 points for an Excellent rating, and 2 points for participation if a Superior or Excellent rating is not scored.

______ Students performing a vocal solo or in a vocal ensemble that receives a “Best of Day” rating will be awarded an additional 4 points.

Musical Theater

______ 8 points are awarded to any cast member who rehearse and perform at all performances of the Norman County Wildcat Theater musical production for that year.

Unrequired Performances

______ 4 points will be awarded to each student who performs a vocal solo outside of required concert performances (church, band concert, sporting event, etc.)

______ 2 points (6 points maximum total) will be awarded to each student who performs in a vocal ensemble outside of required concert performances (church, band concert, sporting event, etc.)

Other

______ 10 points will be awarded to each student who attended a summer vocal music camp (e.g. International Music Camp, Bemidji State Choir Camp, etc.) and provides proof of participation.

______ 8 points will be awarded to each student who accompanies the choir during concert or contest performances.

Point Deductions

______ 5 points will be deducted from each student who is ineligible and misses a performance during the school year.

______ 10 points will be deducted from each student who receives an unexcused absence from a performance.
