English 7

This is a full year course. We are starting a new curriculum this year that combines reading, writing, and vocabulary with a variety of diverse texts and media (film, fiction, non-fiction, articles, and so on).

The following are some of the texts used in the course: "Still I Rise", "After Twenty Years", An American Plague, The Firefly Letters, and Nightjohn.

Students are expected to read outside of class. To check this, students will be expected to read one book per semester of their own choice. They are given project options to complete as well checkpoints to divide the project into manageable chunks.

Important Dates to Remember:

  • Unless otherwise specified, we have vocabulary quizzes every other Friday starting the third week of school.

  • Independent reading projects are due 10 days before the end of the semester.

  • The mid-term will be held in December before break. The final will be held in May during finals week.

This page also contains information for all seventh grade students and their families to help them make the adjustment to the high school, so feel free to peruse any or all of the documents below.
