A program created for all levels of academics, at ACU Online, in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Programs for a way to connect each member in a way that creates a sense of community and feel more comfortable in asking questions and building connections in all areas of CSD within an academic or professional environment. Communication Corner is not meant to be a mandatory meeting, but a “come and go as you please” scenario. We wanted to create a space where members could feel comfortable asking questions or getting help.
We want to ensure that everyone is being heard, privacy needs are being met(if requested), and being respectful to other members who also have questions. In doing so, we have some steps in place duing our session to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all of our members who are joining us for Communication Corner:
Muted: In the case that someone is already speaking, we want to make sure background noise won’t interrupt. Please make sure that you are muted upon entering the call.
Identify: We want to know who is joining us. Please be sure that your name is being showcased so the officers can identify who joined the call and can call on you when it is your turn or if you have input on the conversation!
Topic & Privacy: In the chat provide what your topic of questions/discussion is. It will help officers prepare and help answer your questions. Also note if it’s a private or public general question/concern.
