Change to a New Major, an Integrated Program, or a New Level of Study
Many changes can occur during your studies, and this page will help you know what to do in order to keep your I-20 accurate and stay in status through the changes.
Complete the change of program document with your advisor
Notify the DSO/PDSO of the change within 10 days of the change;
The next time you leave the U.S. or use your I-20, request an updated I-20 so it reflects your accurate major field of study.

Integrated programs allow students to take graduate level courses while still an undergraduate, and shorten the time to graduation for a graduate degree in the same field.
Notify the DSO/PDSO and make an appointment to discuss the immigration side to these types of programs at least 1 semester prior to the completion of your bachelor’s degree.
Follow the process below for the graduate program the semester in which your undergraduate requirements will be completed.
Your first degree program I-20 will no longer be valid once you complete your degree. You will need a new I-20 for your graduate program.
Make an appointment with the PDSO/DSO to let them know. Specify your anticipated start date and discuss your plans for OPT.
Submit the financial documents needed to demonstrate your ability to pay for at least 1 year of your graduate program.
Receive the new I-20 for the graduate program. It will have a new completion date on it for the new program.
Use the new I-20 if you leave and reenter prior to beginning the program.
