I am an Adjunct Professor at the American College of Thessaloniki. I hold a B.Sc. in Biology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and an M.Sc. in Neuroscience from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. I earned my Ph.D. from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Amsterdam, where I investigated the role of the complement system in neuroinflammation in multiple sclerosis, in a project funded by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in the United States.
Following my doctoral studies, I conducted postdoctoral research at Leiden University Medical Center, where I expanded my expertise in neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation, and translational neuroscience. I subsequently continued my postdoctoral work at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, focusing on human physiology and neuroimmunology of neurodegenerative diseases.
I have authored 25 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 14, >1,000 citations) and have contributed to eight funded clinical trials as a study coordinator. I teach anatomy & physiology, histology, and neuroimmunology at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, integrating research-driven approaches into my teaching. I am also a member of two European research working groups in neuroanatomy and neuroimmunology, and I serve on the bioethics committee of Alzheimer Hellas.
