Congrats to students who participated in the Summer Coding Challenge. Registration for 2026-27 will open on September 1st.
For students in the SR, INT, and JR divisions, the Finals begin with a livestream starting at 10am EDT (7am on the West Coast).
Participants in the Elementary and Classroom Divisions should join the livestream at 2pm EDT (11am on the West Coast).

The ACSL Finals will be online, using the HackerRank platform that students have used during the regular season. Unlike the regular season, the HackerRank platform will be in its "Secure Mode". The following integrity controls will be enabled:
Full-screen enforcement: You must keep the contest window in full-screen mode throughout the contest.
Tab switch alerts: Warns when you attempt to navigate away from the contest. You must remain on the contest page for the entire duration of the contest.
Copy/paste restriction: Blocks external copy and paste actions during the contest.
Multiple monitor check: Blocks the use of multiple monitors during the contest.
Image analysis: Uses your webcam to capture images of you during the contest, and flags any suspicious activity.
Please keep in mind that this is a competition to test a student's coding skills. It is not a contest to see if the student can get the answer using AI, friends, parents, or random internet sources; there are other contests to test that very valuable skil!
There are no team awards. All prizes will be based on an individual's score.
The schedule of day is as follows; all times are given in EDT (UTC-4).
10am - The contest will begin for the Senior, Intermediate, and Junior Divisions with a Live Stream. Students will be able to access the contest on HackerRank starting at 10:15am.
Before 10:30am - Students must start the Programming Test before 10:30am. There will be 2 problems to solve, with a total of 20 points. There is a 3-hour time limit from the time the student begins.
11am-Noon - Advisors are invited to join the ACSL Executive Team in a Zoom-based town hall meeting.
2pm - The contest will continue for all students with a Live Stream. Students will be able to access the contest on HackerRank starting at 2:15pm.
Before 2:30pm - Students in all divisions must start the Short Problems before 2:30pm. The time limit for all divisions is 1 hour. Each test will have 20 questions. All categories tested during the year will be included. No new categories will be added.
3:45pm - Breakout discussion rooms, moderated by ACSL alumni, will be open to students via Zoom.
5pm - Results and prize winners will be announced with a Live Stream.
To be invited, students must score at least 28 points (Junior, Intermediate, Senior Divisions); 24 points (Classroom Division); 14 points (Elementary Division). Email invitations will go out starting on May 1st, and will continue through the end of Contest #4. There is a registration fee of $35 per student to participate in the Finals. The email invitation will include a payment link. Upon payment, the student will be sent a HackerRank invitation and a form to fill out if they'd like to participate in a breakout room.
A great way for students to prepare for the contest is to challenge themselves on previous contests. Our partner at RaiseExamScores.com provides an online platform with many years of previous contests.
