Hall Fletcher's library strives to have Flexible Access. Flexible Scheduling or Flexible Access means that the school library is available for students and classes when needed. Such a library program can be fully integrated into the learning and helps students analyze, interpret and communicate ideas in various formats. As the American Library Association says, "Inquiry skills are taught and learned within the context of the curriculum and may occur in the classroom, the library, or at home with 24/7 accessibility to a wide range of resources, technologies, and services." Classes are scheduled on an as needed basis with teachers and the librarian planning "just-in-time" research or use of technology together. Flexible Access is considered best practice as it also gives students and teachers the opportunity to utilize the library throughout the day to access information sources, find just-right books that excite and engage students and allow for collaboration between students and adults.
