In Fall 2022, the ACS DLT team shifted our goal towards coaching again, especially after two years of providing triage support for distance learning. The following graphic was introduced in October 2022 to help staff understand the various ways a DLT can support and coach their classroom with the intentional use of technology.
By using Flip, students are able to record themselves and have an authentic audience to listen to their work.
With several initiatives influencing teachers this year, coaching teams has been a way for me to support their curriculum and provide resources that can make stronger learning connections for our students.
I've supported individual teachers with everything from setting up a Google Form to using a green screen to creating a final video.
All K-5 students at Claxton received 3 Internet Safety lessons via Common Sense Education. These lessons were either scheduled during class time or during their media specialist time with the support of Ms. Baily.
For the past 10 years, Hour of Code has been a global movement to help engage students with computer science. This year, we used Indi robots in K-2 and a two online puzzles via Code.org in 3-5 to practice collaboration, communication, and problem solving skills.
Beyond Hour of Code week, some teachers have asked me to support connecting computer science with their content. This 4th grade class used Ozobots to play with code, but also as a fun reinforcement to learning about heart function.
In November, 15 staff members joined us to explore our makerspace resources and consider activities we could support in their classrooms.
